The Colossi of Memnon are two 18-metre-tall stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that once flanked the entrance to his now-destroyed mortuary temple. Standing alone in open fields, they are among the most recognisable and easily accessible monuments on Luxor’s West Bank.
