The Valley of the Kings is a royal burial ground on Luxor’s West Bank where pharaohs of the New Kingdom were laid to rest in elaborately decorated rock-cut tombs. Used for royal and elite burials from roughly the 16th to 11th century BCE, it holds over 60 known tombs, including the tomb of Tutankhamun.
